...listening for recovery |
|
Stories have healing power, can even save lives. Survivors of the most horrific experiences often begin their recovery with the simple act of speaking their piece, knowing their story is being heard. Meanwhile, the act of bearing witness opens perspectives and triggers unexpected healing in the listener. Hurricane Katrina has left an entire population with indelible stories that must be heard. As time goes on, political drama upstages these everyday people, leaving them no forum. The Katrina Stories Project will sit with survivors, listen compassionately to each story, and preserve it for all to hear. |
